Overview: School of Artificial Intelligence

The School of Artificial Intelligence has established 6 specialties which include artificial intelligence technical services, big data technology applications, software technology, mobile application development, computer application technology, and information security around cultivating talents on artificial intelligence applied software of basic services in software specialties, constituting a specialty group in the construction of high-level brand specialty group in Jiangsu Province-the software technology specialty group. In 2019, the school took the lead in the development and application of the new national higher vocational specialty of Artificial Intelligence Technical Services, which filled the gap in the construction of higher vocational AI specialty. The School of Artificial Intelligence first tried two sessions of professional AI feature training on software technology, published 6 AI application software textbooks and opened nearly 10 courses, becoming the benchmark for the construction of AI-related specialties in so many higher vocational colleges.

There are 56 faculty members in the school, including 49 full-time teachers with 2 professors, 21 associate professors (including senior engineers), and 5 doctors, with 90% of the full-time teachers having a master's degree or above. It has 1 Jiangsu famous teaching master, 2 provincial “333 Project” training recipient, 1 training recipient of the “Six Talent Peaks”, 1 middle-aged and young academic leader training recipient of the provincial “Qinglan Project”, and 4 Jiangsu outstanding young backbone teachers. It also boasts the “Excellent Teaching Team of Colleges and Universities under the Economic and Information Technology Commission of Jiangsu Province” and the outstanding teaching team of Jiangsu “Qinglan Project”. The proportion of teachers who have obtained advanced skills certificates such as system analysts, software architects, and Ali ACP accounts for 60%, and dual-qualified teachers account for 98%; more than 90% of them have practical experience in enterprises, and part-time teachers who have strong professional practice ability are all from well-known companies

The school is currently the national computer application and software talent training base, Jiangsu software industry talent training base, Jiangsu software outsourcing practical talent training platform, and Nanjing software talent training base. At the same time, it collaborates with companies such as H3C, Huawei, Baidu, and Dt Dream to establish the “Yangtze River Delta Artificial Intelligence Industry and Education Alliance” and jointly built the “H3C Artificial Intelligence Industry Academy” and the “AI Collaborative Innovation Application Research Institute”. There are more than 20 professional training rooms including the ones for front-end application development, data storage, artificial intelligence, website development, intelligent monitoring, Android application development, IOS application development, big data processing, and enterprise network comprehensive training with more than 2,000 sets of equipment on a construction area of 2,700 square meters, with a total value of more than 34 million yuan.

The school currently has 2 teaching teams in Jiangsu Province and is in charge of 2 sub-databases of the National Teaching Resource Database; 1 national excellent course, 1 national excellent resource sharing course, 1 national excellent online open course; it edited 16 national planning textbooks and 8 provincial key textbooks, won 1 national teaching achievement award, and has “3+2” joint undergraduate specialties in higher vocational education.

Since 2015, the school has won the first prize of the National Vocational Skills Competition for 6 consecutive years, 2 special prizes in international competitions such as BRICS International and Future International, and 1 special prize and nearly 30 first prizes in the “China Software Cup”, “National Lan Qiao Cup” and other domestic influential software competitions. Core indicators such as specialty group application rate, registration rate, graduate counterpart employment rate, starting salary level rank in the forefront of the school. Graduates enjoy a high reputation among software companies in the Yangtze River Delta and have become the first choice of employers.

The School of Artificial Intelligence follows the college’s overall positioning of “creating new characteristics for school development during the ‘14th Five-Year Plan’ period, new highlights for ‘Double High’ construction, and new highlands for talent training”, continuously deepens the reform of the talent training model, and actively explores the “government, school, and enterprise” cooperative education model, further promotes the integration of production and education, school-enterprise cooperation, and cultivates industry talents with the concept of craftsman education, to cultivate high-quality AI industry applied talents that are urgently needed in this new era.
