From November 20 to 24, 2024, the Third Basic Teaching Skills Competition for Physical Education Teachers in Universities in Jiangsu Province was successfully held. The competition was hosted by the Jiangsu Education Department and co-organized by the Jiangsu Provincial School Physical Education Teaching Steering Committee, Nanjing Tech University, and NJCIT. This competition aims to strengthen the development of physical education teachers in higher education institutions in our province, improve these teachers' teaching skills, and promote the high-quality development of physical education work in higher education institutions.

On the afternoon of November 20, the opening ceremony was held at Nanjing Tech University. The competition was divided into three groups: the undergraduate college group, the higher vocational college group, and the sports major theory group. Among them, the competition of the higher vocational college group was held at NJCIT from November 22 to 24, attracting 158 physical education teachers from higher vocational colleges across the province.

During the competition, Li Jinquan, Second-level Inspector of Jiangsu Education Department; Liu Haiyuan, Secretary-General of National Committee on Physical Education Teaching of Higher Education; Li Haining, Second-level Researcher of the Physical, Health, and Arts Education Division of Jiangsu Education Department; Zhang Tianfeng, Deputy Director of Jiangsu Provincial School Physical Education Teaching Steering Committee and Dean of the School of Physical Education of Nanjing Tech University; Chu Zhidong, Deputy Director of Jiangsu Provincial School Physical Education Teaching Steering Committee and Executive Vice President of Nanjing Normal University Taizhou College; Chen Haibo, Consultant of Jiangsu Provincial School Physical Education Teaching Steering Committee; Yan Jun, Consultant of Jiangsu Provincial School Physical Education Teaching Steering Committee; Li Yang, Principal Staff Member of the Physical, Health, and Arts Education Division of Jiangsu Education Department, and other people visited NJCIT to investigate and guide the organization of the competition, accompanied by Tian Min, President of NJCIT, Liang Peigen, Director of the Department of Physical Education, and others.

This competition involved 19 sports, such as track and field, swimming, basketball, volleyball, football, tennis, table tennis, badminton, softball, sanda, taekwondo, martial arts, aerobics, cheerleading, street dance, sport dance, yoga, dragon boat, as well as dragon and lion dance. It covered three aspects: teaching skills, physical qualities, and theoretical assessment. In terms of teaching skills, participating teachers were required to select one teaching content from the specified courses for writing teaching plans and on-site simulation teaching. In terms of physical qualities, test items such as 3-minute rope skipping, standing long jump, and solid ball throwing were included. The computer-based examination was adopted for theoretical assessment, involving health pedagogy, sports psychology, school physical education, first aid education, and other aspects.

In the competition, all participating teachers carried forward the sports spirit of tenacious struggle and courageous striving to be the first, actively prepared for and participated in the competition, and fully demonstrated the solid professionalism and good teaching style of college physical education teachers in our province. Through vivid simulation teaching, the teaching theory was transformed into concrete teaching practice. At the same time, teachers also showed good physical qualities and solid theoretical foundations in the physical quality test and theory assessment.

The successful organization of the Third Basic Teaching Skills Competition for Physical Education Teachers in Universities in Jiangsu Province by NJCIT demonstrated the innovative achievements of NJCIT's sports work. Meanwhile, it also provided a platform for physical education teachers from sister colleges in the whole province to display themselves and communicate with each other. It greatly enhanced teachers' confidence and enthusiasm for NJCIT's physical education work and effectively promoted the establishment and development of physical education teacher teams in higher education institutions in the whole province.
