On November 20, the Seventeenth Special Lecture of the Sunflower Lecture was held in the lecture hall of the Administration Building. Hu Guanjiu, a researcher-level senior engineer of Jiangsu Environmental Monitoring Center, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Committee of the Center, and Head of Jiangsu Taihu Water Quality Monitoring Center Station, was invited to give a special lecture entitled Carrying Forward the Spirit of Model Workers and Performing Well in Ecological Environment Monitoring to teachers and students at NJCIT. Hu Guanjiu enjoys the special allowance of the State Council and has won honorary titles such as the National May Day Female Pacesetter, National March 8th Red-banner Pacesetter, and Advanced Individual in Earthquake Relief of the National Environmental Protection System.
In the lecture, Hu Guanjiu shared her career experience of more than 30 years in plain language. She has always maintained the original aspiration and enthusiasm of dedication and selfless contribution and witnessed the continuous improvement of environmental quality with increasing blue sky and clear water, vividly interpreting the labor spirit of environmentalists—We should continue to do research and better serve the development of a beautiful China through more effective environmental monitoring. She shared her life experiences and insights: First, we should have the quality of wanting to accomplish things and the ability to do so; second, personal growth should be organically combined with national development, situation development, and work needs; third, we should keep a calm attitude and always be grateful.
At the end of the lecture, Hu Guanjiu said affectionately: To protect the environment, we will continue to struggle. She encouraged the teachers and students to cherish their time, face pressure without fear, strengthen their beliefs, and build up confidence. It is necessary to combine personal ideals closely with the development of the country, carry forward the spirit of striving for excellence in labor, study diligently, and work hard.
Through this lecture, the teachers and students learned about all aspects of ecological environment monitoring, broadened their horizons, and deeply admired Secretary Hu's excellent technical level and selfless dedication. The Model Craftsmen on Campus activity was an engaging ideological and political education class that allowed teachers and students to experience the excellence of model craftsmen up close, ignited boundless enthusiasm for labor and a pioneering spirit, and fueled the youthful dream of emulating role models.
