Great News: NJCIT Students Achieve Excellent Results in the 2024 Jiangsu University Students' Taekwondo Championship

From October 30 to November 3, the 2024 Jiangsu University Students' Taekwondo Championship was held in Xuzhou. Sponsored by the Jiangsu Student Sports Association, this competition set up Professional Undergraduate Group, General Undergraduate Group and Higher Vocational and Technical College Group. More than 600 athletes from more than 70 universities and colleges within the province participated in the competition.

Under the kind care of school leaders, the Department of Physical Education of NJCIT organized more than one discussions among coaches to actively prepare and make a training plan. In order to ensure the quality of training, the coaches and athletes from NJCIT's Taekwondo team overcame difficulties and spared evening time for training. After selection, NJCIT sent nine athletes to attend eight events (of eight levels). All the pains paid off. NJCIT students carried forward the fighting spirit of forging ahead in unity and rising up to challenges despite injuries. Finally, NJCIT won 6 gold medals and 2 silver medals of individual events, attained the first place of the men's team event and the fourth place of the women's team event, and ranked second in terms of the total team score.

This competition has not only demonstrated the competitiveness of NJCIT's Taekwondo team, but also manifested the effectiveness of NJCIT's sports education, contributing positively to the all-around development of students' moral, intellectual, physical, aesthetic and labor capacities.
