On the afternoon of October 23, the School of International Education organized international students to visit Nanjing City Wall Museum and Jinling Art Museum together with the teacher-student volunteer service team of the School of Electronic Information, embarking on a national conditions education journey to gain a deep understanding of Jinling's cultural imprint.
First, led by the members of the Yuanqi—Exploring the Traces of Nanjing Ming City Wall volunteer service team, the teachers and students visited Nanjing City Wall Museum to experience the historical changes of Nanjing City Wall. During the visit, members of the publicity group elaborated on Nanjing's city wall culture from various aspects such as its historical origin, architectural structure, and cultural significance. When mentioning the inscriptions on the city wall bricks, international students were attracted by the stories behind the ancient city wall. After listening to the explanation, they gained a deeper understanding of China's ancient urban defense system and the history witnessed by Nanjing's city wall.
Later, the teachers and students, led by members of the Chinese Painting Series of Successive Dynasties volunteer publicity group, entered Jinling Art Museum. The Fine Arts and Calligraphy Exhibition for Celebrating the 75th Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China, co-organized by Nanjing Painting and Calligraphy Academy and Jinling Art Museum, was on display there. Members of the publicity group gave the teachers and students detailed explanations of oil paintings, calligraphy works, photography photos, and other artworks in the exhibition. These artworks showed the different stages of development in the 75 years since the founding of the People's Republic of China as well as people's living conditions and mental state from different perspectives. The international students were immersed in the world of artworks and constantly took photos, feeling the profound history and unique charm of Nanjing at different stages of its development.
This activity not only enhanced the international students' understanding of the city wall culture but also deepened their appreciation of the rich cultural heritage of Nanjing as a famous historical and cultural city, and improved the ability of cross-cultural exchanges and understanding between Chinese and foreign students.
