On the morning of October 25, NJCIT held a grand college history materials donation ceremony in Conference Room B504 of the Administration Building. The purpose of the ceremony is to enrich the college history museum's collection, further explore the college history materials with preservation value since the establishment of NJCIT, and play a better role of the college history in educating people. Eleven representatives including retired teachers, alumni and children of senior teachers of NJCIT donated their personally collected college history materials. Qian Qunlei, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Committee, Shi Zebo, former Deputy Secretary of the CPC Committee and Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission, as well as relevant leaders from the Retirement Office, Alumni Association Office, School of Electronic Information, School of Intelligent Manufacturing and other departments, attended the ceremony. The ceremony was hosted by Lin Hong, a member of the CPC Committee and Secretary of the General CPC Branch.
At the beginning of the ceremony, Deputy Secretary Qian Qunlei expressed his heartfelt gratitude to all donors for their generous contributions and to alumni for their long-term concern and support for the construction and development of the college on behalf of NJCIT. He stressed that today's donation ceremony has great significance to the construction of the college history museum. The historical context shown by the college history materials is not only an important embodiment of the development history of NJCIT but also a common memory treasure house for NRIC and NJCIT people. He hoped that this donation ceremony could attract more alumni, teachers, students, and people from all walks of life to participate, so as to collect more valuable materials on the college history into the museum, carry forward the culture of NJCIT, inherit its spirit, and promote the establishment of a college history museum with richer cultural connotations of NJCIT.
During the subsequent presentation of donation certificates, Deputy Secretary Qian Qunlei, on behalf of NJCIT, presented donation certificates and souvenirs to donor representatives including Chen Chuanyu, Wang Bingqing, Chen Min, Gu Hejian, Tang Feirong, Sun Suoqing, Wu Xiang, Wu Jie, Zhao Heping, Gao Xinling, and Lyu Yuan.
Focusing on the theme using artifacts to narrate history and using culture to cultivate people, Secretary Lin Hong introduced the collection of college history materials in detail from four aspects: the background of college history material collection, the current status of college history material collection, the history material collection process and progress, and the plans for the next phase of the collection work. Since the commencement of the construction of the college history museum, the General CPC Branch has taken the lead in collecting 792 pieces of college history materials from retired faculty members and their families and children, alumni, and on-the-job faculty members through various forms such as personal interviews, collection announcements, archive inquiries, and special topic collection. The collection work was properly carried out by following the three-step material collection process: registering donors, creating a list, taking photos, and scanning; classifying materials by different periods, and labeling them; and organizing them by category and topic within the same period. She concluded that the collection of college history materials was like stringing together scattered pearls to form a beautiful necklace, which would enrich the college history research resources and exert their historical value.
At the ceremony, the donor representatives reviewed their studies and work at NJCIT, told their deep feelings for the college, narrated the stories behind the college history materials, appreciated the 71-year development process of NJCIT, and put forward expectations and suggestions for the construction of the college history museum. They all said that the donated history materials would play an important role in helping understand the development and construction history of NJCIT and promoting the college's history and culture.
Shi Zebo, former Deputy Secretary of the CPC Committee and Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission, said in his summary speech at the donation ceremony that the college history materials were not only the memory of NJCIT but also an important platform to educate people, and more importantly, they served as an important carrier to reflect the cultural confidence, inheritance and development of NJCIT. He was moved by the deep feelings of old comrades towards the college.
The collection of college history materials is an important part of the construction of the college history museum. In the near future, the college history museum will enable more NJCIT people to gain a comprehensive and in-depth understanding of the history and evolution of NJCIT, get familiar with the history and conditions of the college, enhance their sense of identity and mission regarding the traditional culture and spiritual connotation of NJCIT, and make the historical memories that reflect the characteristics of NJCIT more unforgettable.
Before the ceremony, the donated college history materials were delicately displayed at the meeting site. The guests paused to view the exhibits, communicated with each other, and frequently recorded each precious piece of historical material with their mobile phones. After the ceremony, the guests took a group photo together to commemorate the occasion.
