On September 5, the China-Africa TVET Cooperation Consortium Annual Conference 2024 was held at the Beijing International Convention Center. The annual conference was attended by Jean Laurent Syssa-Magale, Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Technological Innovations of the Central African Republic; Jarso Maley Jallah, Minister of Education of the Republic of Liberia; Wu Yan, Vice Minister of Education of China; Li Zhi, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Vocational and Adult Education of the Ministry of Education of China; and Liu Limin, President of CEAIE. The meeting was chaired by Yang Jun, Vice President and Secretary-General of CEAIE. Cao Xue, Director of the International Exchange and Cooperation Department, represented NJCIT at this annual conference.
This annual conference was themed Partnering for a Shared Future: Empowering TVET Development through Collective Effort. It included keynote reports, a special seminar on Schools and Enterprises Working Together to Support the Future of China-Africa Vocational Education Cooperation, and a work report from the China-Africa TVET Cooperation Consortium. Guests from China and African countries participated in in-depth exchanges and lively discussions. A number of cooperation projects under the China-Africa TVET Cooperation Consortium were signed in the presence of education ministry leaders from both China and several African nations. In the future, NJCIT will closely focus on serving national initiatives and international capacity cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative. It will continue to deepen exchanges and cooperation in vocational education between Chinese and African institutions, implement the ten partnership actions, and add new content and vitality to China-Africa cooperation through faculty training, cultivation of professionals with vocational skills and techniques, joint construction of vocational standards, and people-to-people exchanges.
The 2024 Summit of FOCAC was held in Beijing from September 4 to 6. The theme of this summit was Joining Hands to Advance Modernization and Build a Community with a Shared Future. The China-Africa TVET Cooperation Consortium Annual Conference 2024 was one of the activities of the Beijing Summit of FOCAC. The China-Africa TVET Cooperation Consortium was established on May 11, 2022. It is a non-profit organization voluntarily initiated by vocational colleges, applied technology universities, chambers of commerce, and enterprises from China and African countries under the framework of the FOCAC. The consortium aims to deepen vocational education exchanges and cooperation between China and African countries by building a network and platform for government-school-industry-enterprise partnerships. It seeks to integrate and share vocational education resources between China and Africa, jointly improve the cultivation of application-oriented professionals, support sustainable economic and social development in China and Africa, and contribute vocational education strength to the construction of a China-Africa community with a shared future.
