On November 6, the Launching Ceremony of Jiangsu-South Africa Vocational College Principals Alliance and Principals Dialogue Event was grandly held at the Xianlin Campus of the Nanjing Vocational University of Industry Technology (NJUIT). Under the guidance of the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education, the Foreign Affairs Office of Jiangsu Provincial People's Government and the Higher Education and Training Department, Republic of South Africa, the event was co-hosted by the NJUIT and the South African - Chinese Culture and International Education Exchange Centre. Tian Min, President of NJCIT, was invited to attend the event and deliver a keynote speech. Pan Xuhai, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Committee and Vice President of NJUIT, presided over the event. The first Governing Board Membership of Jiangsu-South Africa Vocational College Principals Alliance had over 80 attendees, including representatives from 8 vocational colleges in South Africa and 11 vocational colleges in Jiangsu Province.
Mookapele Mpho Gift, Commissioner of the Department of Higher Education &Training of South Africa, Kula Thangithini Juliet, Deputy Chairman of the South African Public School Principals Organization, Ngcobo Jeffrey Themba, Deputy Secretary General of the South African Public School Principals Organization, Yang Shubing, Deputy Director-General of the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education, Yang Jing, Deputy Director of the Foreign Affairs Office of Jiangsu Provincial People's Government, and Wu Xuemin, Secretary of CPC Committee of the NJUIT attended the event and delivered speeches. During the event, the Launching Ceremony for the Jiangsu-South Africa Vocational College Principals Alliance and the China-South Africa Centre for Innovation Exchange in Art and Design was held. Additionally, there was also an Awarding Ceremony for the Governing Board Membership of Jiangsu-South Africa Vocational College Principals Alliance. Yang Shubing and Yang Jing awarded plaques to South African members of the Jiangsu-South Africa Vocational College Principals Alliance, while Mookapele Mpho Gift and Ngcobo Jeffrey Themba awarded plaques to 11 Chinese members of the Alliance, including our college.
In the Principals Dialogue Event, NJCIT's President Tian Min, as a representative of the Principals Alliance, delivered a report themed Co-construction and Sharing; Establishing a Highland for Vocational Education Talent Training. After reviewing the history and international educational advancement of NJCIT, President Tian Min introduced the achievements of our college in terms of domestic and international exchange and cooperation in recent years, shared insights and practical experience on vocational education collaboration, and presented a promising outlook for cooperation between China and Africa (South Africa) in the field of vocational education. At the same time, he expressed that NJCIT, as a member of the Alliance, will continue to carry out vocational education cooperation with African colleges and universities, focus on collaborative development and sharing in areas such as educational resources and online education, facilitate mutual exchange and learning among more students from China and Africa (South Africa), help them experience diversified cultures, build a highland for talent training in vocational education, and contribute to the economic, cultural and social exchanges between the two countries. During this Event, the principals of seven other colleges, including Elangeni TVET College, Westcol TVET College, Gert Sibande TVET College and Vhembe TVET College, as well as Jiangsu Vocational College of Agriculture and Forestry, Nanjing Vocational Institute of Railway Technology and Jiangsu Vocational Institute of Commerce also made reports separately.
This event aims to implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's speeches and important instructions on China-South Africa Friendly Cooperation during the 15th BRICS Summit and his state visit to South Africa, and promote the exchange and mutual learning in vocational education between Jiangsu and South Africa for common development. The Jiangsu-South Africa Vocational College Principals Alliance has incorporated 21 members in its first batch, aiming to promote cooperation and exchange between vocational colleges of China and South Africa, focus on the youth, cultivate the youth and empower the youth, train more high-quality technical and skilled talents, and jointly build a world that is open, inclusive, interconnected, and of common development.
