NJCIT Dreams, Alumni Bonds—NJCIT Holds a Symposium for Alumni Representatives to Commemorate the 70th Anniversary of the Founding of the College and the Inauguration of the Alumni Association

In the refreshing golden autumn, with the fragrance of sweet osmanthus in the air, the alumni forum for the 70th anniversary celebration of the college took place on October 14th in Room C504 of the Administration Building. Alumni representatives gathered around the theme of NJCIT Dreams, Alumni Bonds for discussions. Twenty alumni representatives from different eras of NJCIT, from Yudao Street to Cangbo Gate, Gupinggang to Xianlin University City, came together to share their experiences, reminisce about their school days, collaborate on the college's development, enjoy quality time, and witness the establishment of the first alumni association of our alma mater. The meeting was attended by Wang Danzhong, the Secretary of the CPC Committee of NJCIT; Tian Min, the President; Shi Zebo, the former Deputy Secretary of the CPC Committee of NJCIT; Wu Xiaohuan and Gu Xinchun, members of the CPC Committee of NJCIT; as well as the heads of the School-Enterprise Cooperation Department and alumni affairs representatives from various secondary schools. The discussion was presided over by Vice President Sun Gang.

First, President Tian Min delivered a welcoming address, extending a warm welcome to the alumni who had come from far and wide. President Tian Min, along with the alumni, reviewed the illustrious developmental journey of our alma mater. The college, as the first technical secondary school for electronics established in 1953 after the founding of the People's Republic of China, transitioned into higher vocational education when it gained independent college status in 2002. In 2019, the college was included in the Double High-Level Plan, marking a significant step towards rapid development. President Tian Min elaborated on the college's achievements over the past five years, highlighting its efforts in cultivating students, deepening industry-education integration, establishing a cohesive network for AI-focused professional cluster development, promoting innovation-driven high-quality development through the integration of science and education, and maintaining a focus on strengthening the college through the development of talent. These accomplishments were presented in a digital format, illustrating the college's high-quality development. Finally, President Tian expressed that the college's 70 years of development have been inseparable from the support of the alumni. He affirmed that, with the backing of the vast alumni community, the college will write a new chapter in Jiangsu's modernization and make it a strong, prosperous, beautiful, and high-level province.

Later on, alumni representatives expressed their heartfelt congratulations and best wishes for the 70th anniversary of their alma mater. Dai Xinqiu, who was enrolled in the college in 1959 and was a member of the former Research Institute of China's Nuclear Test Base and a military veteran, expressed his gratitude to his alma mater for the education he received. He was personally involved in China's first atomic bomb test, the first missile-carrying nuclear warhead test, and the first hydrogen bomb test. In total, he participated in fifteen nuclear tests and dedicated his entire life to China's atomic bomb program. Entering the university in 1982, Song Yunfeng, an alumnus and Secretary of the CPC Committee of Nanjing Panda Handa Technology Co. Ltd., mentioned that the company has over a thousand alumni from Nanjing Vocational College of Information Technology and expressed gratitude to the alma mater for providing the company with a pool of technical and skilled professionals. Wang Hanming, who entered the college in 1985 and now serves as the vice president of Nantong Jianghai Capacitor Co., Ltd., said that over half of the company's senior management team and more than one-third of its middle-level leaders are alumni of NJCIT. Together, they have worked diligently, contributing to the company becoming China's largest manufacturer of aluminum electrolytic capacitors. On behalf of the Guangdong Alumni Association, Cao Baojun, who entered the college in 1986 and is now the President of the Guangdong Alumni Association and Chairman of Shenzhen Kuaiyidian Education Technology Co., Ltd., expressed his congratulations to the college, reminisced about the time when he was in the school, and expressed his deep gratitude to the teachers of his alma mater. Zhu Xiaoming, who entered the college in 1988 and is the Party Branch Secretary and Manager of the Wireless Center at China Telecom Hangzhou Branch, shared his experience as a torchbearer for the 19th Hangzhou Asian Games. He expressed his gratitude for the education he received from our alma mater. Zhu Guangshuai, who entered the college in 2008 and is the general manager of Suzhou Light Year Digital Technology Co., spoke as the youngest alumni representative. He shared his entrepreneurial journey nurtured by his alma mater and wished the college a happy birthday.

After listening to the speeches of the alumni, Secretary Wang Danzhong delivered an important speech, expressing gratitude to the alumni from various walks of life, the NRIC and the NJCIT students. Many of them are senior figures in their respective industries. Today, they come together to celebrate the 70th birthday of our alma mater, reminisce about their time at school, and look forward to the development of their careers. He thanked the alumni for carrying forward the spirit of NRIC, preserving NJCIT culture, sharing the story of NJCIT, and for their long-term support and care for the alma mater. Secretary Wang Danzhong emphasized that the college carries the legacy of NRIC's patriotism and rich cultural heritage. Under the leadership of previous administrations, it has overcome challenges and laid a solid foundation for the significant achievements in the past five years. The college's progress is evident, and as one of the architects of its development, he is determined to lead the team towards further excellence and higher goals. With the collective efforts of generations, the aim is to transform the college into a centennial institution. Secretary Wang emphasized that the college's most valuable resource lies in the students it nurtures, who go on to make significant contributions to society. He also highlighted that the most precious wealth of the university is its extensive alumni network. The college has put its heart and soul into preparing for this 70th-anniversary celebration. We want to warmly welcome our alumni back, because our alma mater is not just any school; it has depth, and warmth. Let's celebrate the 70th anniversary with dreams. Finally, Secretary Wang expressed the need tostrengthen connections with our extensive alumni community and foster ongoing interactions with our alumni to keep the emotional bonds alive. In the future, we will use the expectations and support of our alumni as a driving force for our work, striving to make Nanjing Vocational College of Information Technology stronger and better! We also extend a warm invitation to our alumni to visit the college regularly, come back to their alma mater, and provide more and better suggestions for its development.
