70 years of diligent efforts bear fruitful results, graduates in the 20th and 21st century have now spread globally. For the upcoming 70th anniversary of the founding of Nanjing Vocational College of Information Technology, the two alumni Ma Quanlin and Wu Xingren, who were enrolled in 1956, returned to the College on March 31. They revisited the College, exchanged learning and working experience with school leaders, teachers and students, and reminisced about old times together.

In 1956, Ma Quanlin and Wu Xingren were enrolled in Nanjing Radio Industry School, majoring in radio machine manufacturing. Because of China’s urgent need for talent in computer science, in September 1958, President Zhu Qiluan decided to choose a total of 95 outstanding students from two radio machine classes and transfer them to Computer Major, consisting of Class 301 and Class 302. Ma Quanlin and Wu Xingren were transferred to Class 301 and Class 302 of Computer Major respectively, who were the first batch of computer talents in the school. In May 1959, at the request of Wang Zheng, Chief Engineer of the 15th Research Institute of China Electronics Technology Group Corporation (CETC), President Zhu Qiluan sent Ma Quanlin and Wu Xingren to the 15th Research Institute for internship. Starting as a technician, Ma Quanlin has been working in the China’s computer industry, and later became the Secretary of the CPC Committee of the 15th Research Institute of CETC. Ma Quanlin and Wu Xingren have made outstanding contributions in the field of natural sciences in China through their hard work by staying on the front line of the construction of major national information system projects for decades. Alumnus Ma Quanlin was awarded the first-class merit by the Ministry of Electronics Industry in the development and test of China’s communication satellites in 1984, and received a special government allowance from the State Council in 1994.
