At 15:30 on April 21, the lecture named Chinese Traditional Culture–Appreciation of Beijing Opera of the Sunflower Lecture Boya Forum was held in the lecture hall of the Administration Building in the school. As the keynote speaker, Peng Lingang, a national first-class actor of Jiangsu Bejing Opera Theatre, showed our teachers and students the charm of Beijing Opera. Attendees of this lecture included Lin Hong, a member of the Party Committee and the head of the Publicity Department of Nanjing Vocational College of Information Technology (NJCIT), and more than 300 teachers and students. Wang Jibin, Secretary of the CCYL Committee of NJCIT presided over the lecture.

The speaker, Peng Lingang, pen name Tai Qu, is a male dan actor of Beijing Opera, a researcher of the history of Yangzhou opera and a national first-class actor. He is now a member of the China Theatre Association and the secretary of the party branch of Jiangsu Bejing Opera Theatre. He has starred in Beijing operas such as The Jewelry Purse (Suo Lin Nang), A Young Girl's Dream (Chun Gui Meng), Empress He Reviles At the Court and A Dream in the Garden. He has also held more than ten solo performances of Beijing operas, including Clear as Autumn Water, Rebirth of the Moonset, Water Mill Sentiments, Everlasting Charm of the School of Cheng, and Where is the Fragrance. He won the gold medal in the CCTV Competition and the gold medal in the Pear Blossom Award Competition hosted by Anhui Television.

Beijing opera is an important part and expression of traditional Chinese culture, which shows the history of the country, national emotions and the life of the people. In his lecture, Mr. Peng introduced Beijing opera from four aspects — the origin of Beijing opera, the division of Beijing opera, the performance of Beijing opera and the repertoire of the genre. During his simple yet in-depth speech, he showed and appreciated the profundity of Beijing opera with the students. His singing of Lanhuamei, a selected piece of The Peony Pavilion brought the lecture to a climax. Attendees of this lecture not only appreciated the beauty of the Beijing Opera but also learned a lot about this art form.

At the end of the lecture, all the students and teachers expressed their gratitude and respect for Mr. Peng Lingang with warm applause. More than a national treasure that we can be proud of with a thumbs up, Beijing opera also embodies the deep and everlasting emotion in our thoughts and soul. It is hoped that this lecture will help students get closer to traditional Chinese culture and feel the profoundness and become proud of traditional culture through Beijing Opera!
