On June 12, Nanjing celebrated the Talent Gather in Nanjing to Create a Better Future — 2022 Jiangsu Province Artificial Intelligence Talent Development Forum. The event was sponsored by Jiangsu Electronic Information Vocational Education Teaching Steering Committee and Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd., undertaken by Nanjing Vocational College of Information Technology (NJCIT) and Zhejiang Huawei Communications Technology Co., Ltd. (Zhejiang Huawei for short). Attendees included Xu Qing, Director of the Department for Vocational Education of Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education, Zhao Shuang, General Manager of Zhejiang Huawei, Tian Min, President of NJCIT, Du Qingbo, Vice President of NJCIT, and Nie Ming, Dean of the School of Artificial Intelligence, NJCIT. They delivered inspiring speeches. Other attendees included presidents and heads of majors from over 30 vocational colleges in and outside Jiangsu Province and industry experts.
At the beginning of the forum, President Tian Min extended a warm welcome to the participants on behalf of NJCIT and Jiangsu Electronic Information Vocational Education Teaching Steering Committee. He pointed out that talent cultivation in the artificial intelligence (AI) industry requires government-industry-enterprise coordination. The President hoped that the experts and scholars present will make concerted efforts, share ideas, enhance the collaboration between vocational colleges and the AI industry, and contribute to better promoting the development of the AI industry and the construction of a talent training ecosystem.
Director Xu Qing highlighted in his speech that the deep integration between industry and education carried out by vocational colleges and leading enterprises is an important way to improve the strength of vocational colleges and the quality of talent training. He believed that Jiangsu Province has initially built a next-generation system for the AI industry led by application and featuring cross-border integration, openness, and sharing, and the steady development of the industry has accelerated technological innovation. Vocational colleges, as the main body of technical and skilled talent training, should pay great attention to cultivating talent that meet the industrial demand and fully leverage the decisive role of the market in allocating resources.
Vice President Du Qingbo, under the theme of Meeting Digital Industry Demands, Building AI-centered MajorClusters, introduced that NJCIT is actively responding to the call for Digital Yangtze River Delta and New Infrastructure. The College availed itself of the opportunity brought by the construction of Jiangsu into a network powerhouse and manufacturing powerhouse, to continuously deepen the major connotation development. It has been insisting on AI-based school running and leveraging the national plan of construction of high-level vocational schools and specialties with Chinese characteristics, to create AI-centered major clusters, upgrade the major cluster layout, and figure out talent training models for NJCIT.
Dean Nie Ming gave a report, entitled Construction of Artificial Intelligence Major and Talent Training at Vocational Colleges. The forum also presented wonderful keynote reports and experience sharing by leaders and experts from Huawei Global Training Center, Zhejiang Huawei, Nanjing Vocational University of Industry Technology, and Yangzhou Polytechnic Institute.
The forum injected new impetus to accelerate industrial digitization and digital industrialization in Jiangsu Province and facilitate AI-based school running, AI + major cluster construction, and high-quality development of AI talent in NJCIT.
