As the first batch of “Internet of Things Application Technology” major in China, the major is one of the key construction specialties of the Construction Project of Core Higher Vocational Colleges in the “National Model Higher Vocational College Construction Plan”, a major funded by the central government, the key construction major of high-level colleges and universities in Jiangsu Province, and the key construction major of the “Plan for the Construction of High-level Higher Vocational Colleges and Specialties with Chinese Characteristics”.

The specialty aims at cultivating inter-disciplinary technical talents who have a sense of social responsibility, innovative thinking, enterprising spirit and cooperation ability, who can dedicate themselves to their work and comply with the norms, who can meet the demand for inter-disciplinary talents created by ICT technology integration and hold the positions of Internet of Things (IoT) Project Planning, Application Development, System Operation and Maintenance in smart industries, and who have the ability of IoT system equipment installation and debugging, IoT system operation, management and maintenance, IoT system application development, IoT project planning, management and service, etc.
