On the morning of September 17, the 2021 World Computing Conference, sponsored by the People's Government of Hunan Province and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, kicked off at the Changsha International Convention and Exhibition Center in Hunan Province. Xu Dazhe, Secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and Director of the Standing Committee of Hunan Provincial People's Congress, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. Mao Weiming, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and Governor of the People's Government of Hunan Province, presided over the opening ceremony. Wang Zhijun, Member of the Leading Party Group and Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, delivered a speech. Professor Jianlin Li of NJCIT was invited to attend this conference.

Computing is an important technology of modern information technology and an important engine of information technology. It has fully penetrated into all fields of human production and life and has become an important driving force for industrial transformation and social development in the world. The opening ceremony consists of speeches by leaders of provincial departments and committees, speeches by famous academicians and entrepreneurs, dialogues and release activities. It focuses on keywords such as computing, innovation, openness, ecosystem and development, and reflects the global development trend of computing technology, industry and application. The conference aims to promote the high-quality development of the computing industry and build a new development pattern with forward-looking thinking and exploration concepts, thus proposing new solutions for the innovative development and application of the global computing industry.

The opening ceremony of the conference & the main forum focuses on Calculating the World to Create a New Era. In addition to the main forum, the conference also sets up six theme summits, including Cutting-edge Technology and New Calculations, Data Elements and Super Calculation, Hardware Technology and Integrated Circuit, Software Service and Information Security, Advanced Computing and Digital Industrialization, Advanced Manufacturing and Industrial Digitalization, and eight special sessions, including Celebrity Speeches: Applied Mathematics and Artificial Intelligence, Plan of International Youth ‘Elites Summit’, International Special Session: Open Source Sharing and Standard Development, Ecological Special Session: Innovation, Creation and Ecological Integration, Cooperation Special Session: New Infrastructure and Open Cooperation, Chip Innovation Cup Award Ceremony & Chip Innovation Cup Talent Training and Development Summit, Computing Innovation and Digital Empowerment, Award Ceremony and Summit Forum of the 2nd ‘Malanshan Cup’ International Audio and Video Algorithm Competition, and other theme activities.

The conference attracted a total of more than 1,000 guests, including over 30 famous academicians, 100 experts and scholars and famous entrepreneurs, and 400 industrial elites at home and abroad, with millions of online viewers via CCTV and Hunan TV broadcasting live. At the opening ceremony, the guests witnessed the launch of 7 major projects, including World Computing-Changsha Science City, SINNET, Phase II Project of CLP, Wondershare, Tech-connection, Digital Mine and Lugu Smart Park, with a total investment of over RMB 25.5 billion. A total of 20 industrial projects with an investment of more than RMB 30 billion were signed at the conference. After the opening ceremony, participants shared their latest research findings, including Yang Xuejun, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and President of the PLA Academy of Military Sciences; Liu Honglie, Secretary of the Leading Party Members' Group and Chairman of China Unicom; Zhou Xiangyu, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Liu Qingfeng, Chairman of iFLYTEK; John Hennessy, Winner of the Turing Award, Academician of the National Academy of Engineering and the National Academy of Sciences of the United States; Chen Xiaohong, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Secretary of the Party Committee of the Hunan University of Technology and Business; Chen Liming, Chairman of IBM (Greater China).

Since his appointment as Vice Chairman of the China Computer Federation Vocational Committee (CCFVC ) in March 2021, Professor Li Jianlin has been appointed as Distinguished Expert of the China Automotive Power Battery Industry Innovation Alliance and Vice Chairman of the Intelligent Networking Committee of China Society of Automotive Engineers. After working for the School of Intelligent Transportation, he has actively participated in various industrial activities, including the 2021 Chinese National Industry Vocational Skills Competition (Auto Parts Import, Export and Storage Warehouse Manager) sponsored by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security and organized by the China Automobile Dealers Association, the 2021 National Electric Vehicle Remote Troubleshooting Skills Competition organized by the China Computer Federation, and the Industry Skills Competition (Traditional Automobile Maintenance) hosted by the Jiangsu Provincial Automobile Dealers Association and Jiangsu Provincial Department of Human Resources and Social Security, making positive contributions to the development of the School of Intelligent Transportation.
