Sunflower Lecture "Magic Technique and Broad Usage of Nanjing Goldfoil" Held at NJCIT

At 15:30 on November 16, the Sunflower Lecture Magic Technique and Broad Usage of Nanjing Goldfoil was held at the Lecture Hall of the Administration Building of the Nanjing Vocational College of Information Technology (NJCIT). Guan Qiuhui, Associate Researcher at Nanjing Jindu Goldfoil Art Museum and Member of the Nanjing Society for Ancient Capital Studies, introduced the widely-used Nanjing gold foil to our students and teachers. More than 100 teachers and students of the college attended this lecture, which was hosted by Mr. Shi Guoquan.

The lecturer, Guan Qiuyi, is the Deputy Secretary General of the Nanjing Folk Literature and Art Association, a member of the Nanjing Writers Association, and the author of Nanjing Goldfoil. Ms. Guan has been invited by the Nanjing University of Information Science & Technology, Nanjing University of the Arts, Nanjing Normal University, Nanjing Tech University, and other universities and colleges in recent years to give lectures on the traditional forging techniques of Nanjing goldfoil.

She briefed on students the forging process of Nanjing goldfoil and gold thread through pictures, and introduced the application of goldfoil in history and contemporary times, the status of goldfoil and the difficulties it faces. At the same time, Ms. Guan also reviewed the goldfoil creative competition in recent years and introduced some excellent creative goldfoil works. Those works with dazzling colors, different shapes and modern sense caused bursts of admiration among students.

During the lecture, Ms. Guan mentioned more than once the dilemma facing the goldfoil industry today, which is the lack of creativity. She came to our school to give a lecture on goldfoil to publicize the Nanjing goldfoil among young people, and hoped that contemporary college students could come up with better creativity to promote the development of the Nanjing goldfoil industry, so that the Nanjing goldfoil was no longer restricted to an article with good appearance, and can be better integrated into the daily life of modern people, achieving the integration of practicality with art.

At the end of the lecture, all the students and teachers expressed their gratitude and respect for Ms. Guan Qiuyi with warm applause. The lecture broadens the horizon of students, expanded the influence of traditional culture, and made more excellent Chinese traditional culture benefit the campus. We hope this lecture can help students get closer to Nanjing's traditional culture and make more people understand Nanjing's traditional culture, and that every youth will strive to become the protector and inheritor of traditional culture. We should contribute our part to preserving the traditional culture of Nanjing and carrying forward the traditional culture of the Chinese nation.
