Chinese and Foreign Students at NJCIT Team up for the First World Vocational College Skills Competition

In order to encourage the competition, exchanges and cooperation between participating countries, promote the application and promotion of virtual reality (VR) technology, and create a competition atmosphere for Chinese and foreign students at vocational colleges, the online VR design and production completion of the first World Vocational College Skills Competition was held on August 10, 2022, and lasted 8 hours. The team consisted of two Chinese students and two Indonesian students from NJCIT, instructed by the teachers Zhang Yuqin and Wang Hui at the School of Digital Arts, won the fourth place.

Leaders of NJCIT attached great importance to it since the notice of competition was issued. The School of Digital Arts and the School of International Education organized Chinese and foreign students for training as required and overcoming difficulties. The students were not afraid of the summer heat. From VR project design, modelling, and engine production to action interaction production, every step requires earnest training and students had their professional quality and skills improved during the training.

It is reported that the competition is based on the six principles of international standards, fairness and impartiality, collaboration and cooperation, scientific competition, quality improvement, and exchange strengthening. The competition covers special technology and core technical competence in the fields of virtual reality technology, computer and digital media. It aims to examine the teamwork, information technology and comprehensive abilities of contestants majored in virtual reality and computer at vocational colleges, demonstrate the contestants' awareness of civilized production and teamwork, cultivate high-quality technical and skilled talents, focus on new occupations, promote the development of vocational and technical education in the post-pandemic era, and highlight the importance of vocational education.
