 Overview: School of Electronic Information


The School of Electronic Information developed from the majors of Radio Parts Manufacturing and Electronic Tube Manufacturing established in 1953 when the college was founded. In 2019, the specialty group related to quality inspection of electronic information products became one of the two key specialty group in the construction project of High-level Higher vocational colleges with Chinese characteristics in our university. In order to better serve the development of the industry and improve the teaching quality, the college integrated some majors of the former School of Electronic Information, School of CQC-New Energy Technology and School of Environmental Information into a new School of Electronic Information, which was meanwhile named CQC-NJCIT TIC School.

The school boasts a profound history and leads the way in comprehensive professional strength in China. The college is the chairman unit of the Electronic Information Major Teaching Committee of the National Industrial and Information Vocational Education and Teaching Committee. The specialty group preside over the formulation and revision of eight teaching standards of national Electronic Information majors. The development achievement of majors: “the Construction and Practice of ‘Three Levels and Double Combination’ Innovation Ability Training System for Electronic Information Major in Higher Vocational Colleges” won the second prize of Jiangsu Province Teaching Achievements in 2013; “Research and Practice of Construction of Integration Platform of Production and Education Combining Upstream Firms and Downstream Firms (UPD) and Collaborative Education Mechanism”, “Research and Practice of Modern Apprenticeship ‘Kunshan Model’” and “Research and Practice of Electronic Information Specialty Group Construction in Higher Vocational Colleges Based on Production Process” respectively won the special prize, first prize and second prize of Jiangsu Province Teaching Achievements in 2017; Construction and Practice of UPD School-Enterprise Collaborative Education Mode Based on Integration of Technology and Talent Supply Side won the second prize of National Teaching Achievements in 2018.

Numerous breakthroughs have been made in terms of integration of production and education, with superiority in the industry. In 2012, The college and China Quality Certification Center (CQC) jointly invested and established CQC-Trusted Laboratory (referred to as CQC-Trusted), a platform for the integration of production and education in mixed ownership, and CQC-NJCIT TIC School, an industrial school. The two institutions have shared resources such as manpower, equipment and technology to achieve integrated development. CQC-Trusted Laboratory has obtained the first CB laboratory qualification in the field of photovoltaic inverter testing in China, making it the first college laboratory in China to obtain this qualification. Test certificates issued by CQC-Trusted are acknowledged by the international community, which facilitates the export of products of regional enterprises.

The school aims at constructing a modern vocational education system and cultivating multi-level talents. Many of its students have won many awards in various competitions. In 2015, the major of Electronic Product Quality Inspection was approved to set up a four-year undergraduate major (Measurement and Control Technology and Instruments); During the same year, a CQC-Trusted Laboratory was recognized as one of the postgraduate workstations in Jiangsu Province, providing a training base for postgraduate students majoring in the Measurement and Control of Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications. The platform organically integrates secondary vocational education, higher vocational education, applied undergraduate education and postgraduate education to establish a multi-level vocational education mode, which provides new inspiration for the construction of a modern vocational education system. Kunshan College, “the First Modern Apprenticeship Pilot Projects”, which explores the tripartite collaborative education mechanism between government, enterprises and schools, has completed its acceptance.

The students of our school have won numerous awards in various competitions and entrepreneurial activities. In National Higher Vocational Colleges Skills Competition, participating teams won the national first prize of Electronic Product Design and Production in 2012, 2013, 2016 and 2018, and won the national first prize of Design and Implementation of Photovoltaic Electronic Engineering for two consecutive years in 2017 and 2018. Participating teams have won the first prize in National College Students Electronics Design Contest for four consecutive years in 2011, 2013, 2015 and 2017 respectively, and the first prize in “Challenge Cup-Rainbow Life” National Vocational School Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Efficiency Competition in 2016. Students succeeded in applying for 64 patents during their school years.

The school boasts excellent teachers and remarkable teaching and scientific research achievements. At present, there are 90 professional teachers, including one winner of the National May 1st Labor Medal, one Jiangsu Provincial Outstanding Educator, two Young and Middle-aged Academic Leaders of Jiangsu Provincial College “Qinglan Project”, three Third-level Training Objects of Jiangsu Provincial “333 Project”, one winner of Nanjing Municipal 321 Talent Project, four Outstanding Young Core Teachers of the “Qinglan Project”, one National Teacher and Teaching Innovation Team, one Provincial Teaching Team and one Provincial Science and Technology Innovation Team, and one Excellent Teaching Team of Jiangsu Economic and Information Technology Commission. The school has published 12 national vocational educationplanning textbooksfor the “12th Five-Year Plan” and three Jiangsu Provincial Key Textbooks; Fundamentals of Communication Technology was rated as one of National Excellent Recourse Sharing Courses in 2016, and Radio Frequency Technology as one of the First National Excellent Open Online Courses in 2019.

In addition, through various ways, the school provides opportunities for further study such as upgrading students from junior college to university for students with outstanding achievements who aspire to improve their educational background. In the past two years, many students have been admitted to “Double First-Class” universities for postgraduate and doctoral studies.
